Lauriston Archives

Since the School began in 1901 by the Irving Sisters, Lauriston Girls’ School has been committed to being a School for Life, a place where learning, character and community endure well beyond the classroom. Our Archives play a vital role in this commitment by preserving the stories, achievements and experiences of the girls, staff and families who have shaped Lauriston across generations.

The Lauriston Archives safeguard this legacy by collecting, caring for and sharing materials that reflect the School’s evolution and its contribution to girls’ education in Australia.

The Archives support class learning, heritage projects and community engagement, offering insight into school life across generations and the ways Lauriston has grown and changed over time.

Donating to the Archives

We welcome offers of items that help document Lauriston’s story. The Archives typically collect:

  • Photographs, films and recordings
  • School publications and student work
  • Uniform items, badges and awards
  • Documents relating to school life, governance and buildings
  • Memorabilia and artefacts

As storage is limited, we may not be able to accept all items, particularly duplicates or materials outside our collecting priorities. Once donated, items become part of the School’s permanent collection and may be used in displays, publications or digital storytelling.

For donation enquiries, please contact ola@lauriston.vic.edu.au.
