We were saddened to hear of the passing of much-loved Lauriston alumna Shan Miller (Francis, OL 1944) who passed away on Wednesday 11 March 2026. Shan was aged 98 and in her final years battled Parkinson's disease. Shan's son Jonathan said that up until her early 90s, she had been active and had lived a very full and meaningful life. Jonathan also mentioned that his darling mum's association with Lauriston was very important to her. In 2021, Shan shared memories of her time at Lauriston - her days as a boarder, and stories of how her own mother served as School Captain back in 1916. We are proud that she was a deeply committed alumna and regularly attended school occasions whenever she could.
Shan's family shares a strong and longstanding connection with Lauriston, beginning with Shan's late mother Connie Varley, followed by her late aunt Rosemary, and continuing through her nieces cousins Miranda Cudis (1968), Sue Nash (1964), Catherine (2005), and Bonnie Taylor (1975).
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Shan's son Jonathan and family.
