Penny Richards Fowler
Director of Advancement
As an experienced Advancement and Philanthropy leader, Penny has 20 years' experience in education and over 10 years dedicated to fundraising, community and international relations.  

Commencing at Lauriston Girls' School in 2022 as Director of Advancement, Penny brings experience and expertise gained during her time at Melbourne Grammar School, the University of Melbourne's Business School and more recently at Sacre Coeur.  Penny is passionate about educational opportunities for young women and is excited about Lauriston's masterplan to deliver vital facilities which will benefit Lauriston students and the broader community for generations to come. 

Penny works closely with the Foundation Board to help build a philanthropic community of friends, advocates, supporters and benefactors who understand that giving young women the opportunity to experience a Lauriston education, has life-changing potential.

Catherine McVean
Alumnae Relations Manager

Catherine is the Alumnae Relations Manager at Lauriston Girls' School. Catherine brings experience and expertise in alumni relations, gained during her time at Caulfield Grammar School and more recently at Haileybury.  Catherine is also local to the Stonnington area and is well connected with communities from Lloyd Street School in East Malvern, East Malvern Knights, East Malvern Tennis Club, Piranhas Basketball and is also the President of Caulfield Grammar School's rowing club, The Pennefather Club.  

Catherine is renowned for throwing herself into communities and bringing people together, and we are excited to see what the future brings, and the energy she infuses into the Old Lauristonians' community. For all alumnae related enquiries, please seek out Catherine.


Bo Rutecki
Advancement Associate

Bo is a strategic marketing and fundraising professional with a wealth of experience and expertise across the education and not-for-profit sectors. Bo's extensive career has encompassed senior executive roles at several high-profile educational institutions including Wesley College, Monash University, St Michael's Grammar School and Kilvington Grammar. She spent many years in the not-for-profit sector marketing the Blood Service, humanitarian aid and services of the Australian Red Cross, and raising funds for International Women's Development Agency. Her broad portfolio of responsibility has comprised strategic marketing, brand management and market repositioning, external and internal communications, advertising, event management, market research, fundraising for major capital campaigns and community appeals, community development, local and international student recruitment and admissions, and alumni relations. She was instrumental in the successful transition of Kilvington Girls' Grammar to a coeducational school. She has won many professional awards including the Victorian Award for Marketing Excellence in Communications, Australian Award for annual reports, and was a winner of the 2014 Educate Plus award for St Michael's scholarship program. Bo has been a highly sought-after speaker at marketing conferences, both in Australia and overseas, and often presented at ADAPE, ASBA and Educate Plus International conferences. Bo is currently a member of the Bayside City Council Arts and Culture Board and regularly volunteers her time to support community organisations such as Australian-Polish Community Services, Polish Film Festival, National Gallery of Victoria and Australian Marketing Institute's Emerging Marketers Mentoring Program. She has been a long-standing member of Association of Development and Alumni Professionals in Education (ADAPE now Educate Plus), Australian Marketing Institute and, previously, member of the External Relations Committee of the Board of Hanover.

Current Vacancy:  Fundraising Coordinator 

The Advancement Team at Lauriston is looking for a talented and driven person to fill a position that has recently become available.

The Fundraising Coordinator will support the operations of the Advancement office, in particular a capital campaign and the regular giving programs. Working in a small team and a fast paced environment, the candidate will have a broad range of skills, be good with detail and capable of multitasking several projects at once. 

This role in collaboration with the Director of Advancement will also encompass coordination of the day-to-day fundraising activities including the management of giving programs, database reporting and management and stewardship of regular donors. Ideally you will understand fundraising campaigns, preferably in an education environment, and be  experienced in participating in a capital campaign process. 

The role will have a particular focus in the areas  of administration, reporting, database support and donor communications.
